Reducing single-use plastics is essential for hotels due to its considerable environmental impact. Plastics contribute to pollution, harm wildlife and threaten human health. Reducing plastic use also helps conserve non-renewable resources and combat climate change. Beyond environmental stewardship, reducing plastics aligns with many hotels' sustainability commitments, aids in complying with emerging regulations, and can result in significant cost savings by investing in reusable items. Furthermore, an increasing number of environmentally conscious travelers prefer staying at that share their values, potentially attracting more patrons.  To qualify for verification, the hotel must achieve an overall score of 80%.

This audit was done as a self-assessment and not (yet) verified.

Plastic bags start out as fossil fuels and end up as deadly waste in landfills and the ocean. Birds often mistake shredded plastic bags for food, filling their stomachs with toxic debris. For hungry sea turtles, it's nearly impossible to distinguish between jellyfish and floating plastic shopping bags. Fish eat thousands of tons of plastic a year, transferring it up the food chain to bigger fish and marine mammals. Microplastics are also consumed by people through food and in the air. In order to qualify for verification, the hotel must achieve an overall score of 80% and comply with all mandatory questions.

We are a hotel that takes disaster preparedness seriously. We've upgraded our back-up generator with flood protection to ensure we can continue to provide power in the event of a flood. We've also created a comprehensive disaster plan and trained our staff to be ready to respond in case of an emergency. Our guests feel reassured knowing that we're prepared for any situation. It's important for us to prioritize the safety and comfort of our guests.

We've implemented several energy-saving initiatives such as LED lighting, motion sensors, and energy-efficient appliances. We've also trained our staff to be more conscious of energy usage, and encourage guests to participate in our sustainability efforts.
