Reducing plastic use also helps conserve non-renewable resources and combat climate change. Beyond environmental stewardship, reducing plastics aligns with many hotels' sustainability commitments, aids in complying with emerging regulations, and can result in significant cost savings by investing in reusable items. Furthermore, an increasing number of environmentally conscious travelers prefer staying at that share their values, potentially attracting more patrons.

Based on ISO 21902 Accessible Tourism standards, the audit provides a practical checklist covering policies, communication, built environment, guest services, emergency procedures, and continuous improvement. Hotels receive clear guidance, examples, and useful resources to support real-world improvements that enhance comfort, safety, and inclusivity for all guests.
