<p>This audit follows the Hotel Resilient Standards. The standards take proven disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation strategies and tailor them to the needs of the hotel industry. They outline the policies, procedures and actions hotels should implement to become disaster and climate resilient. The audit is divided into seven general sections and two building specific sections. The audit therefore addresses hotels with multiple buildings and provides individual scores for each building type. Your responses to the audit questions will combine to measure a hotel's risk and resilience to natural and technological hazards, including impacts from climate change.</p>

The audit covered the following requirements

SUP Audit (Phuket Pilot)

This audit addresses Single Use Plastics (SUP) potentially used in products and packaging in hotels and in the supply chain of hotels.

This audit was done as a self-assessment and not (yet) verified.

<p>Plastic bags start out as fossil fuels and end up as deadly waste in landfills and the ocean. Birds often mistake shredded plastic bags for food, filling their stomachs with toxic debris. For hungry sea turtles, it's nearly impossible to distinguish between jellyfish and floating plastic shopping bags. Fish eat thousands of tons of plastic a year, transferring it up the food chain to bigger fish and marine mammals. Microplastics are also consumed by people through food and in the air. In order to qualify for verification, the hotel must achieve an overall score of 80% and comply with all mandatory questions.</p>

We reduced food waste by 60%

We are a committed to reducing food waste. We've implemented several initiatives such as ordering smaller quantities, donating leftovers to local food banks, and composting food scraps. We've also trained our staff to be more conscious of food waste, and encourage guests to order only what they can eat. Our efforts have paid off, and we've reduced our food waste by 60%. It's not just good for the environment, but it's also good for our bottom line. We're proud to be making a positive impact, and we hope to inspire others to do the same.

We planted new mangroves around our beach

We've planted mangroves along the coast to increase our tsunami protection. The mangroves not only help to prevent erosion, but also provide a habitat for marine life. We've also educated our guests about the importance of protecting our environment and reducing their carbon footprint. It's important for us to take action to protect our community and the planet. We're proud to be part of the solution, and we hope to inspire others to do the same.

Our back-up generators are now flood-proof

We are a hotel that takes disaster preparedness seriously. We've upgraded our back-up generator with flood protection to ensure we can continue to provide power in the event of a flood. We've also created a comprehensive disaster plan and trained our staff to be ready to respond in case of an emergency. Our guests feel reassured knowing that we're prepared for any situation. It's important for us to prioritize the safety and comfort of our guests.
